BIOTECH 2011, the international event and conference on biotechnologies, took place from 5 to 7 October I Pavilion 1 at fieramilanocity.
Now at its third edition, BIOTECH 2011 took place once again during LIFE-MED, the fair concept dedicated to Life Sciences, which, this year, had 250 registered exhibitors from 21 countries, and took up an area of 8,000 square metres. LIFE-MED also included NUCE INTERNATIONAL 2011, the second edition of the international fair for the Nutraceutic, Cosmeceutic, "Functional Foods & Drinks" and "Health Ingredients” industry, and ALGAE EUROPE 2011, the second edition of the conference on production technologies and industrial application of algae.
For the third consecutive year, BIOTECH offered the exclusive service of online Partnering, an important and efficient tool for the organization of one-to-one business meetings, thanks to which participants were able to identify new business opportunities and optimize their presence at the fair. An important new entry of this 2011 edition was the event dedicated to Charities: associations, foundations, no-profit organization active in fundraising for scientific research and which, thanks to their valuable activities, have, in these years, achieved remarkable results with regards to the progress in the treatment of numerous illnesses. In fact, the CHARITIES DAY, with its conferences, meetings and debates, took place on 5 October. During the event, there was also a special exhibition area dedicated to these important activities. Moreover, BIOTECH 2011 hosted the BIOCHEM ACCELERATOR FORUM, a project sponsored by the European commission to help companies enter the emerging markets of bio-based products.
Important synergies were also guaranteed by the contemporaneity with CHEM-MED, the international chemistry event, which took place in the adjacent Pavilion 3 of fieramilanocity, and, during which, the 41st edition of RICHMAC, the international fair and conference on instrumental and process analyses and laboratory technologies, also took palce.
